Listen: Flatlander “Codename Dancer”

One-third of the well oiled shred-machine that is Death Grips, Flatlander (a.k.a. Andy Morin, a.k.a. Yung Where’d You Get Those Shades, a.k.a. Electric Boogaloo) may often be seen on stage with DGs sportin’ a shirt that simply reads: “TECHNO”. For anyone that was curious, “Codename Dancer” is here for you to explain that shirt. Flatlander is responsible for a considerable amount of Gripz [GREAT] production, and if you have been following the group since the beginning, you’ll have seen this production getting noticeably polished up recently… “Codename Dancer” is the first solo track we have heard from Flatlander (Unless you are familiar with Morin’s prior work, which is now conspicuously missing from all corners of the internet) and it is a straight up, club banger. Which, shouldn’t surprise anybody seeing as DG as a group is getting a bit more poppy (please don’t get mad at me for using the ‘P’ word here) recently. I mean, take a more recent track such as “Fever” alongside the 2011 track “Full Moon” and you can clearly see what I mean. This isn’t a bad thing at all, Flatlander simply knows how to make bangers. And whether full on electronic bangers are ‘your thing’ or not, it’s a nice added element to such an inventive group.
